LOCATION OF POST: Oberstown, Lusk, Co Dublin
EMPLOYER: The person appointed will be employed by the Board of
Management of the Oberstown Children Detention Campus.
REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS: The post holder will report to the Head of
Programmes or his/her delegate.
THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The chaplain?s should possess a? particular understanding of the
relation between faith, illness and the emotional and mental conflicts
that might arise for a young person at Oberstown. The chaplain seeks
to motivate and initiate meaningful use of each young person?s
belief?s and attitudes in the management of the many personal
challenges the young person may face in their daily lives and at
particular times of crisis (eg. family bereavement, health problems or
loss of a court appeal). The chaplain can offer a comforting and
supportive presence that is independent and professional, while
working as part of the multi- disciplinary team.
